From Small Café Owner to International Business Man
In 1891 the Finnish brand Fazer was born. A man called Karl Fazer started his small café in Helsinki and over the years he became a very successful businessman. His café was not the only thing he was busy with, since he also started making his own French-Russian confectionary. He named his candy after himself and over the decades, the brand Fazer grew so much that he ended up with a big international food company. After 130 years Fazer is divided up in five different production areas: ‘Confectionary’ which contains the production of all the chocolate, biscuits and sweets. ‘Bakery’ which bakes all the breads, pastries and cakes. ‘Food services’ is the operation of school and workplace cafeterias. ‘ Retail’ does the operation of bakery shops and cafes and ‘Lifestyle Foods’ does the production of all other food items. In total the company has over 10.000 employees across Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Norway, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Japan. They export their products to almost 40 countries worldwide.
