The History of Jordan Oral Care
It all started with a Danish man called Wilhelm Jordan who was born in Copenhagen in 1809. He was the oldest of 12 children and after his studies he left the house to look for work in Germany. He went to Hamburg where he learned comb making. He developed his comb making skills and continued to do so. In 1837 he moved to Oslo where he started a small company together with two other comb makers in the city center. During the years he started to get an interest in brush making, also since there was not yet a brush maker in Oslo. That made him decide to go back to Hamburg again to learn the skills he needed to make brushes. When he was skilled enough he returned back to Oslo where his company successfully grow. Business went good and he lived a good life. He died a wealthy man in 1879 at the age of 70. His oldest son Fredrik Jordan took over the business and developed the brush and comb making business further. They continued making many brooms, scrubbing brushes and luxury brushes by hand. As the streets were still swept with birch brooms in the 1870s, there was a new trend coming out from the United States, where they made brooms with piassava bristles. This new innovation soon made its way to Europe and Norway. Fredrik took the opportunity and reached out to some connections in Denmark, which were able to produce this same piassava bristle. This was a good business move, because of that, the business developed even more. By following trends and continuously being innovative they expanded and by doing so led Jordan oral care to become a leading oral care manufacture. They created a legacy that is still alive today and now mostly known for their Jordan oral care products, such as toothbrushes, dental floss, toothpaste and many more.
