The origin of Zendium
A Dutch pioneering microbiologist invented Zendium toothpaste, by the name of Dr. Henk Hoogendoorn. He wanted to challenge the anti-bacteria status quo, way back in 1969. His leading-edge work on the oral micro biome led him to the discovery of Zendium’s revolutionary formulation, which supports the mouth’s immunity. They were launched in the Netherlands in 1976 and in Denmark in 1980 based on the enzyme research Dr. Henk Hoogendorn had developed. Today they have a market share of roughly 37% in Denmark; it is therefore the most favourite toothpaste of the Danish consumers.
The purpose of Zendium
Zendium wishes to change the way the world thinks of oral hygiene. They especially want to promote the connection between the natural defence mechanisms of the mouth and the rest of the body for every age group. The packaging used around the toothpaste is made from recycled cardboard. Toothbrushes are made from 90% recycled plastics. They are focusing more and more on the environment and have started several initiatives that focus even more on bio based product packaging and sustainable energy sources. The manufacturing of their products is already 100% powered by renewable energy from sustainable sources. They are a part of Unilever, which over the last years have commenced an overhaul of all their companies to focus more and more on the environment and sustainability. Zendium know they as a company has a social responsibility and must make initiatives in the field of sustainability, which they strive to accommodate.
