Description: Tullamore Dew is a legendary Irish whiskey brand, founded in 1829 in the town of Tullamore, in the heart of Ireland. Tullamore Dew is also named after the company's charismatic leader of his time, Daniel E. Williams, whose initials DEW in addition means "dew" in English.
Tullamore Dew's quality and clean, crisp and soft taste are unique among Irish whiskeys. The taste can be described as mild and round with a discreet grain. It is lightly spiced with fruit notes and soft undertones of creamy vanilla and oak. The aftertaste is nuanced and comfortable long.
The Irish Whiskey is also known for "not having the smoked flavour like Scottish whiskey - nor the particularly sweet taste like American bourbon". Tullamore Dew's soft and round flavour is achieved by the unique way in which the Irish whiskey is produced. The actual malting process differs from that used in the production of Scotch whiskey. Here, the grain is dried over open peat, giving scotch whiskey its distinctive taste of smoked peat.
The absence of this dry-drying is one of the characteristics of the Irish whiskey, which allows the whiskey's natural flavour to penetrate. Yet another difference between Irish whiskey and many other whiskeys is that both whiskey from the copper kettles and corn whiskeys are distilled three times instead of twice. It provides a more concentrated and cleaner distillation and taste.
