Liqueur production dates back several centuries and is derived from herbal remedies made by monks from the Carthusian or Benedictines. Liqueurs were already made in Italy in the 13th century. Today liqueurs are made in almost all countries and can be enjoyed as they are or together with other ingredients: over ice, mix with coffee or cream or mix in drinks. It is usually suitable for desserts and cooking.
